WITH THE DEVIL YOU DON'T DIALOGUE

On one occasion, the demon appeared to three monks and said to them: If he gave them power to change something from the past, what would they change?
The first of them had great apostolic fervor, and he answered him:
—"I would prevent you from making Adam and Eve fall into sin so that mankind could not turn away from God."
The second of them was a man full of mercy, and he said to him,
—"I would prevent you yourself from turning away from God and condemning yourself eternally."
The third of them was the simplest, and, instead of answering the tempter, he knelt down and prayed, saying:
—"Lord, deliver me from the demon of what could have been and wasn't."
The devil, screaming stantorily and shivering in pain, disappeared.
The other two, surprised, said to him:
—"Bro, why did you react like that? "
He answered them:
—“First of all, because we must NEVER enter into DIALOGUE with the enemy. Secondly, because there is no power in this world capable of CHANGE the past. Thirdly, because the interest of the evil one was not that we test our VIRTUE, but, caught in the PAST, neglect the PRESENT, because it is the only time when God gives us His grace and we can cooperate with it to FULFILL His float. Of all the demons, the one that traps men the most and prevents them from being happy is the one that COULD BE AND WASN'T.
The past is left to God's Mercy and the future to his Providence. Only the present is in our hands.
All we need is to have God on our side!.
And who are you standing next to?...

THE SERENITY PRAYER

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY
TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE;
COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN;
AND WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

LIVING ONE DAY AT A TIME;
ENJOYING ONE MOMENT AT A TIME;
ACCEPTING HARDSHIPS AS THE PATHWAY TO PEACE;
TAKING, AS HE DID, THIS SINFUL WORLD
AS IT IS, NOT AS I WOULD HAVE IT;
TRUSTING THAT HE WILL MAKE ALL THINGS RIGHT
IF I SURRENDER TO HIS WILL;
THAT I MAY BE REASONABLY HAPPY IN THIS LIFE
AND SUPREMELY HAPPY WITH HIM
FOREVER IN THE NEXT.
AMEN.
