Funny Story - A Father’s Legacy

Father told his 3 sons when he sent them to the university:

“I feel it is my duty to provide you with the best education possible,

and you do not owe me anything for providing that.

However, I want you to appreciate it. As a token, I want each of you

 to put $1,000 into my coffin when I die.”

And so it happened. His sons became a doctor, a lawyer, and a financial

planner, each very successful financially.

When their father’s time had come and they saw their father in the coffin,

they remembered his wish.

First, it was the doctor who put 20 x $50 notes onto the chest of the deceased.

Then, came the financial planner, who also put $1,000 on his father’s chest.

 Finally, it was the heartbroken lawyer’s turn.

He reached into his jacket pocket, took out his check book, wrote a check

for $3,000, put it into his father’s coffin, and took the $2,000 cash.

He later went on to become a Member of Parliament…

Absolutely worth it.

House of Balmain

The silhouette and the technique (three-dimensional embroidery) is reminiscent of another Balmain couture dress from 1953 that was in that case covered in pale pink flowers.

DON’T PRIORITISE YOUR LOOKS

Don’t prioritise your looks my friend, they won’t last the journey.
Your sense of humour though, will only get better with age.
Your intuition will grow and expand, like a majestic cloak of wisdom.
Your ability to choose your battles, will be fine-tuned to perfection.
Your capacity for stillness, for living in the now, will blossom.
Your desire to live each and every moment, will transcend all other wants.
Your instinct for knowing what (and who) is worth your time, will grow and flourish like ivy on a castle wall.
Don’t prioritise your looks my friend,
they will change forevermore, that pursuit is one of much sadness and disappointment.
Prioritise the uniqueness that make you you,
and the invisible magnet that draws in other like-minded souls, to dance in your orbit.
These are the things which will only get better.

From ‘The Right Words’

THE SERENITY PRAYER

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY
TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE;
COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN;
AND WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

LIVING ONE DAY AT A TIME;
ENJOYING ONE MOMENT AT A TIME;
ACCEPTING HARDSHIPS AS THE PATHWAY TO PEACE;
TAKING, AS HE DID, THIS SINFUL WORLD
AS IT IS, NOT AS I WOULD HAVE IT;
TRUSTING THAT HE WILL MAKE ALL THINGS RIGHT
IF I SURRENDER TO HIS WILL;
THAT I MAY BE REASONABLY HAPPY IN THIS LIFE
AND SUPREMELY HAPPY WITH HIM
FOREVER IN THE NEXT.
AMEN.
