Christmas - “It's the most wonderful time of the year!”

THE SPIDER ON THE DOOR

They say that once a man was chased by several evildoers who wanted to attack him. The man walked into a cave.
The evildoers began searching for him by the previous caves he was in.
With such desperation he raised a prayer to the Creator: "God Almighty, let your angels come down and cover the entrance, so that they do not enter and kill me."
At that moment I hear the men approaching the cave he was in and saw a little spider appear.
Little spider started to weave a spider web in the driveway.
The man raised another prayer again, this time more distressed:
"Lord I asked for angels, not a spider"
And it continues "Lord please with your mighty hand place a strong wall at the entrance so men can't come in and kill me."
He opened his eyes expecting to see the wall blocking the entrance and noticed the spider weaving the web.
The evildoers were already entering the previous cave and the man stayed waiting for his death. By the time the criminals were in front of the cave, the spider had already covered the entire entrance.
Then I hear this conversation:
Let's go inside this cave.
Nope. There's no need
Look, there's a spider! There is no way he could have gotten into this cave without breaking it. Let's keep looking in the others.
REFLECTION:
We ask for things that from our human perspective are what we need, but God gives us those little things that can become big.
Sometimes we ask for walls to be safe, but God instead asks us for trust in Him, to let His power manifest and make something like a spider give us the same protection as a wall.
If you've asked for a wall and all you see is a spider web, remember God knows what we really need.

THE SERENITY PRAYER

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY
TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE;
COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN;
AND WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

LIVING ONE DAY AT A TIME;
ENJOYING ONE MOMENT AT A TIME;
ACCEPTING HARDSHIPS AS THE PATHWAY TO PEACE;
TAKING, AS HE DID, THIS SINFUL WORLD
AS IT IS, NOT AS I WOULD HAVE IT;
TRUSTING THAT HE WILL MAKE ALL THINGS RIGHT
IF I SURRENDER TO HIS WILL;
THAT I MAY BE REASONABLY HAPPY IN THIS LIFE
AND SUPREMELY HAPPY WITH HIM
FOREVER IN THE NEXT.
AMEN.
